The man on the monitor mix is Edd Garcia. We have been working together since Sonorous days in the 90s. Sonorous was the official sound and lights provider of Eraserheads when my friend Ann Angala (now Ann Shy) was still managing the band. Wait for the write up about Digidesign mixer and how Edd shares his experience as he learned how to use it and became an expert in one day (rehearsal). The music magazine will feature Edd as the first filipino who used this Digidesign mixer.

Many thanks to Mario Benipayo of Forerunner Technologies for letting us use this powerpacked Digidesign-Pro Tools monitor console mixer (used also by Avril Lavigne). On the night of the rehearsal, Edd, Ferdie and I were figuring out how to save the setting for Eraserheads until I asked Edd to move his flash drive and insert it again. Then we learned that the setting automatically syncs and copies with the flash drive when we checked the flash drive in Edd’s MacBook. The thing that Mario didn’t teach Edd.

In 2006, PMX supplied the sound and lights for DJ Tiesto’s “In Search of Survive 5” Asian Tour held at Forum, PICC.

In 2008, PMX worked with him again, gave him the Martin W8LM DJ monitor since L’acoustics is not available, and provided his cult the best set-up of sound and lights in the house…location: World Trade Center, Manila…freedom day: April 19.

PMX set-up 100% Martin Audio speakers system from Tiesto’s Martin Audio W8LM mini-array monitor, 40 subwoofers, to the hanged line array speakers including the W8LC…system designed and equalized by Ferdie Garcia and Nestor Tolentino.

…with 100 moving heads effects such as Martin MAC 600, 700 and MAC 2000, Fine Art Technology, and Coemar CF1200 reinforcing with conventional lights and 3 laser, there’s no doubt that Tiesto, Elements of Life, is an experience of “consistent” sound and lights showcase…lights designed and orchestrated by Dominique Gallardo…

DJ Tiesto, the world’s greatest DJ, transformed World Trade Center in Manila as the club of the clubs that night.

Started out way back 1987 as a very small mobile system up with all low end equipment mostly fabricated by Jun Garcia. PMX first name was EVERICH sound system which included high fidelity tube equipment. Everich was active in stereo contest and audiophile competitions during that time.

Everich eventually transformed to POWERMIX Mobile. Became popular with street parties.

Influenced by Jose “Lin” Gomez of Musicbox II Enterprises, Powermix started with the first batch of audio equipment investment such as JBL high-end and low-end loudspeaker components, Crown power amplifiers, etc.

First included are Ligo Sardines Manufacturing, Caloocan City Hall, La Consolacion School-Caloocan, Notre Dame of Greater Manila, and most of the events subcontracted by prestigious sound and lights companies, SONOROUS and RSL.

PMX was introduced to Electrosystem through Mr. Edward Bicierro. Electrosystem during that time was the exclusive dealer of Electro Voice (EV), Nexo, and Bose systems.

Further influences of other sound system contemporaries like RSL, First Harmonic, and SONOROUS opened PMX to the live band scenario.

In the early and mid 90s, PMX became the technical partner of PMPI for its technical requirements with the launch of NOKIA 3820 at Limits Disco in St. Francis Square.

Also in the early 90s, PMX started to invest in a complete set of backline (band equipment) from Perfect Pitch in Cubao, Quezon City to service its first band DV8 at the RCBC Christmas Party.

With further influences from AUDIO IMPACT of Colby Dela Calzada, PMX became more trained and equipped to handle live band entertainment.

In 1997, PMX became the sound and lighting supplier for bars like Watering Hole, Decades, Giraffe in 6750, Cats in New World Hotel, Reasons-Makati, and many more.

First major bands handled were Parliament Syndicate, True Faith, Parokya ni Edgar, The Dawn and Eraserheads (through Sonorous), Mulatto, Prettier than Pink, After Image, and others.

PMX first rave party event was DJ Goldie held in the old Philtrade Hall beside the now famed Aliw Theater compound.

In 2000, started supplying for PAGCOR Casino Filipino in Parañaque, Heritage Hotel, and other related accounts.

In January 2002, PMX, Microdata, and EVI Distribution, Inc. entered to contract for Electro Voice technical upgrade including EV X-Array system. QRX speaker system, EV Precision series power amplifiers through Mr. Frederick Mabini.

In the same month of the year 2002, Powermix Audio Services became Powermix Audio Services Company

Also in the year 2002, Ronald Lucero, formerly of Sonorous, officially joined and introduced PMX to event management and promo agencies like Livewire Productions, Inc. and Promo Farm.

PMX started to be recognized as one of the most favored suppliers of the top bands in the land namely RIVERMAYA, Parokya ni Edgar, Southborder, Barbies’ Cradle, Retrospect, True Faith, etc.

In June 2003, PMX, together with RSL and HX Pro sound and lights companies, flew in the first Line Array Speaker System in the Philippines – 32 boxes of EV XLC 127, Midas Heritage 1000 56-channel and 48-channel Klark Teknik DN1248FM plus splitters, which became the benchmark and milestone in the history of the technical suppliers in the Philippines.

Victory Christian Fellowship – Asian Invasion 2003 event held in PSC-ULTRA was the first to have used the 56-channle Midas audio mixing console, Klark Teknik splitter, and the 32-boxes of Electro Voice XLC 127.

2003 Ad Congress in Baguio City experience Electro Voice XLC system and Martin Audio monitors with Martin Nievera’s performance with Smart Communication through Livewire Productions, Inc.

The series of sporting events became the trademark of projects contracted by PMX for SOLAR Entertainment through Mr. Rico Arce.

PMX became a part of foreign acts such as Hoobastank, Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne, Boys-2-Men, Patti Austin, Gordon Waller, Dennis Hoist, Toto, and a lot more.

In 2004, PMX launched the website http://www.pmxaudio.com. Later on listed in ProAudioGuide, Europe.

SOLAR Entertainment’s “Yanig sa Taguig” held in December 2004 was the biggest main project of PMX with full rigged of lighting, special effects, line array speaker system, and 12 outdoor search lights.

January 2005, PMX installed Electro Voice XLC system for Day by Day Christian Church (formerly Folk Arts Theater)

In 2005, PMX supplied for the internationally known artist and DJ Boy George at the NBC Tent.

Until the end 2005, PMX has been consistent in providing quality services to clients such as RIVERMAYA, PAGCOR, SOLAR, LIVEWIRE, PMPI, ADWORKS, VICTORY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP, etc.

In 2006, Ronald Lucero started accepting inquiries and projects from offshore clients through http://www.pmxaudio.com. Some of them are Chivas from France and Hong Kong and a production company from Korea.

More in 2006 include events of Nickelodeon, Globe Telecom, Ayala’s Serendra, Petron, ABS-CBN, Toyota, etc.

PMX switches to Martin Audio speakers system. A month ago, the night after PMX supplied the sound and lights for DJ Sin Palomo at World Trade Center in Manila, Ferdie Garcia, Nestor Tolentino, and myself had a dinner with the Martin Audio London managing director David Bissett-Powell. PMX Audio purchased boxes of Martin Audio W8LC line array. It is a compact line array enclosure designed to bring superb next-generation line array performance to concert, theater and commercial events.

PMX Audio or Power Mix Audio Services Company is the touring company that pioneered the use of Electro Voice (EV) XLC line array speakers system in both corporate events and concerts. The company again is the first group to use Martin Audio line array speakers system in the country. PMX is the preferred sound and lights company of one of the best rock bands in Asia, River Maya. It also supplies technical requirements of Livewire Productions, PMPI Creative Suites, and Victory Christian Fellowship.
